14,000 miles and counting
by Chris on Nov.23, 2005, under Automotive
Last night I hit 14,000 miles and it occurred to me that I’ve only had the car for a single year. I picked it up in Bryan, TX on the last day of November. I’ve had my share of glitches with the I-drive system, a faulty sensor, and a few new tires. Yet, I have to admit that this is the best vehicle I have ever owned. Here’s to many more years of enjoyable ownership!

Your car wants a wax job
by Chris on Aug.25, 2005, under Automotive
I got a call on my cellphone this morning from the local BMW dealership. The guy on the other end said ‘Your car needs service.’ Which is weird, since the car is still less than a year old and I don’t show any issues in the Check Control besides an oil change in 1700 miles. I tell the guy that and ask what the car wants to get done (I know, it’s crazy to talk about a machine like it has needs… but that’s how the conversation went). The Service guy doesn’t have any information about what the car needs, only that it showed up in his computer this morning. At some point yesterday, the car called the dealership and tried to setup an appointment for itself. Until I go in on Sept. 7th, which is the earliest date I can go in and get a loaner, I won’t know what’s wrong with it.
I can think of three things that it might need… The oil change, it got scared when it was pulled over by a cop yesterday, or it misses the 328is that’s in the shop right now. Regardless, it was strange that the car called up the dealership without me knowing about it. For all I know now, the car is going out at night by itself and cruising for some 330 tail… Maybe I should put a parental lock on the garage door.
